Sunday Thoughts #1

So I thought I'd start doing a weekly post on here so I can at least aim for one post a week... so here's my Sunday thoughts! It's a good day to pick as the house is normally pretty clean and tidy ready for the week ahead, we all have tea together at 5 (no 8pm tea for me and Aled) so a night on the sofa with a brew and a film is totally justified. It's been a bit of a funny week, I'm only just sure of what day we're on after the Christmas/New Year festive limbo!

We started the week off with a New Year's Eve walk up Cwm Idwal with Aled's Dad. I've never been there before and it was stunning! I mean, most walks are around here, we're so lucky to have such beautiful scenery on our doorstep. Oliver's really enjoying his mountain walking at the moment too. He rarely moans any more and loves having his picnic at the top and taking some pictures on his new Vtech camera (training him up to be my insta photographer aint I 😜). We're hoping to get some bigger walks done with him this year and then plan to do Snowdon in Spring/Summer next year. Elsie's in that tricky age where she doesn't want to be in the back carrier for the whole walk but then she's sooooo slow and gets distracted by any sort of stone, puddle or cloud along the way. So I try to keep her in the carrier for as much as I can and then let her out when we have our picnic and a bit of the walk down. Anyway, we all loved it and can't wait to go up there again in the summer.

I'm not a fan of New Years Eve, you couldn't pay me to go out partying and then pay through the nose to get a taxi home. For the past few years we've had friends around to ours, ordered a takeaway, played some boardgames and seen in the new year in comfy clothes on the sofa with a few drinks. Much more my thing. We didn't invite anyone over this year as Aled was working New Year's Day so it was just the two of us. We ordered loads of food from our favourite chinese takeaway and were in bed by 10pm, rock 'n' roll I know. We did wake up at midnight though as every man and his dog on our estate were letting off fireworks for a good half hour.

So, New Year.... any resolutions? I don't really have any this year, more goals really. I think I'll list them in a separate post at some point but the New Year definitely started with some healthier eating. I'm not going back to Slimming World, not following any sort of strict diet. I'm just going to track everything through 'My Fitness Pal' and give myself a bit of slack at the weekend, otherwise I tend to give up. So it's been a good week so far really, here's hoping I feel a bit more body confident by the time we go away to Centre Parcs.

On Wednesday we had a chilled day with a Costa date and park trip thrown in. It was my last day off before heading back to work after 12 days off and I really felt like we owed it to the kids to give them a 'proper' day out like to the Zoo or something but money's tight after Christmas and we had a lovely day anyway, so that's all that matters! The return to work has been tough, I knew it would be. It's bittersweet to spend some time off with the kids, because I always know it has to end at some point so I can get back to work. I don't think it helps going back midweek but nothing can be helped there. Hopefully the fresh start tomorrow will be easier. Plus the kids are both in nursery tomorrow so it'll be more like our normal routine. Their school isn't back until Wednesday though, due to teacher training days!

Aled's been working this weekend so we haven't got up to much really, although I did treat the kids to a trip to the tip. I know, I know, I'm too kind to them. We have been along to Nia's opening day for her new gym (Diamond Conditioning) today though which was lovely. And my amazing Dad has finished our new hallway flooring which looks beautiful! I originally ordered flooring from work, but when he started fitting it on New Year's Eve, we realised that the boxes were damaged. Super frustrating but we've now had this flooring from Howdens instead. I'm so bloody happy with it, just a couple of finishing touches to make and the hallway is done.

Right, I've rambled on enough now I'm sure, hope you have a great week 💗
